چکیده

Patient 1 An 84-year-old woman with severe aortic stenosis was referred for coronary angiography before transcatheter aortic valve implantation. A severe stenosis in the mid segment of the right coronary artery was treated with a bare metal stent. The guidewire induced a new moderate focal lesion at the most proximal segment of this vessel (Figure 1A). OCT revealed images consistent with a ruptured plaque with a large cavity adjacent to a normal coronary wall and also images suggesting a large lipid plaque (Figure 1B–1E). Once the guidewire was removed, the angiographic pseudostenosis completely disappeared (Figure 1F) confirming the occurrence of an accordion effect.

Edge Dissections After the Coronary Implantation of Bioresorbable Scaffolds. Serial Analysis Using Optical Coherence Tomography

Background: The incidence of edge dissections after the coronary implantation of bioresorbable scaffolds (BRS) has not been investigated. BRS have thicker struts and require more aggressive pre-dilation for implantation. The incidence of edge dissections after BRS implantation, their morphological aspects and healing process were evaluated using serial optical coherence tomography (OCT) images....

Prevalence and Predictors of Multiple Coronary Plaque Ruptures: In Vivo 3-Vessel Optical Coherence Tomography Imaging Study.

OBJECTIVE Plaque rupture may be the local expression of a widespread coronary instability. This study aimed to investigate: (1) the prevalence and characteristics of nonculprit plaque rupture; (2) the pancoronary atherosclerotic phenotype in patients with and without nonculprit plaque rupture; and (3) the prevalence and predictors of multiple plaque ruptures. APPROACH AND RESULTS Six hundred ...

ST Elevation Infarction after Heart Transplantation Induced by Coronary Spasms and Mural Thrombus Detected by Optical Coherence Tomography

The case illustrates the possible link between coronary spasms, intraluminal thrombus formation, and widespread organized and layered thrombi in HTx patients. Furthermore, the case underlines the clinical value of OCT as a novel method for high-resolution vessel imaging in heart-transplanted (HTx) patients with coronary spasms and suspected coronary artery disease. Coronary spasms and sudden de...

Intravascular Images of Coronary Stenosis with Multiple Channels in a Patient with Antiphospholipid Syndrome: The Optical Coherence Tomography Findings

Intravascular images of coronary stenosis by antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) would be beneficial to understand the mechanism of this disease. A 59-year-old woman with APS/systemic lupus erythematosis (SLE) underwent emergent coronary angiography which revealed stenosis with micro channels in the proximal left anterior descending artery. According to optical coherence tomography (OCT), the centr...

Optical coherence tomography. Initial experience in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention.

Optical coherence tomography is a new intracoronary diagnostic technique that has a higher resolution than other techniques, such as intravascular ultrasound. We used optical coherence tomography to study outcomes after stent implantation in six patients who had undergone percutaneous coronary intervention, and in whom angiography showed normal results after revascularization. Material was obse...
